I have a question. If a player would for instant raise 100% of the range on the button against a GTO player that opens UTG the mistake the GTO player makes is to ‘act’ as if this would be a stronger range and it might fold too often but what I understand the profit comes from the hands that are being called by the GTO player, playing against a weaker range when it calls and after the call it also assumes that the range is limited to the gto-range it assumes which might be an error but the profit comes from the mistakes made by the other player. Is this correct? If we would for instance play 2000+ big blinds deep and I would try to win from the gto bot and let’s say I open with 72o and the gto bot reraises with AA and I would call with 27o and the flop comes 222. Would the gto bot call a 2000 big blind front shove because it assumes to be against KK and never against a 2? Even with 20.000 big blinds?
Great video
learning statistics and probability outside school is just 10x better
Also, I assume some of those raises are bluff raises correct? Most preflop charts use A5 as a bluff not a value raise.
I'm confused. For RFI why would you "sometimes" do something. Based on what information? Flipping a coin? I don't see the value of randomizing is it to balance?
the worst thing about 4 betting somebody on low stakes is getting a jam from the 3 bettor no A5s stuff no 65s nothing

@@ThePokerBank Yer so zen.
Risk/risk + reward
Math? Just have a consulting team with a lap top with you between hands bruh... 😉
That certainly would help, lol
This is all wrong. The "long run" is consisting of millions of individual hands which we all agree are largely luck. I have been playing for years; the number of bad beats and suck outs are F-ing incredible. No matter how well or shitty you play, anything can happen. This F game is 80% luck. The best hand is always a 100% luck, the winning hand could be different but again, I don't care how well you play, you will lose a large portion of the time. Sure, you can study theory, betting strategies and it counts for about 20% of the equation, that but the fact remains; you are at the mercy of the cards. Anyone who tells you different is lying. Look at the "winners"; they lost half of their hands all the time. "Picking" the right game (meaning looking for suckers) is what they say we need to do but if you need worse players to win, that isn't a pure skill game in the sense of knowledge of the game. I don't care what the GTO says; we are human and cannot play perfectly. There fore luck plays an insanely huge factor. If you want a truly skill game, go play chess. There is a reason they call poker gambling.
Good video, but man the audio is really bad... Something about your mic or audio processing is like, echoing? Or reverbing? And has a very high pitch backing to it. Good video man, just need to fix that mic
Sound is perfect on my set up
Do you think dereverbing would help much?
Is there a solver for a mac computer?
Not that I'm aware of
Risk plus risk/reward
Years ago, I used to write "risk" and "reward" on the back of my left and right hand respectively. Other players used to ask me about it at the table. Told them I wanted to remind myself of how to think of every decision in each hand.
So helpful, thanks James

Why your content doesn't matter anymore
I hate to say but I called something when I first started watching these videos last year or that's when I started saying it anyway. I see him going to the casino playing one two talking about poker theory it makes me laugh. You play like you play against the pros at 1/2 that means you are a fish in that game
Because I don't know the difference between GTO and exploitative adjustment?
Easy call. QQ, JJ, TT, 99, these are all shoves, never mind bluffs. You should have DEFINITELY called.
The problem with GTO it is based on BILLIONS of hands played by computers. Human CANNOT play that many hands in a lifetime
Of course. Humans do not play millions of hand against a computer The underlying premise of GTO is completely false
@@JohnSmith-su3ze That is not what I said
So if a human can never play a perfect longrun sample, they should instead do _________? (Please fill in the blank 👍)
@@ThePokerBank Read what their opponent is doing and adjust accordingly
@@JohnSmith-su3ze You would do that in a perfect longrun sample too.
Cool video, just popping in now. For me I like to think about pot odds and build bet sizes around that. If I am ahead, but need protection on a connected board I will over bet for EV to charge draws from staying in the pot above their profitable EV. If they fold, you win, if they continue, they made a negative EV play. If I think I am ahead but have a dry board, I can bet smaller for value as a better means of positive EV. If I have a draw heavy hand, I am polarized to bluff, call down, or fold depending on my opponent and board texture.
Do you have a simplified version of the ranges in the app for the straddle ranges? Not rGTO kind of speak? Also, what rake did you use for the ranges? Are these useful for online games or they are meant for live games?
Just rGTO for those at this time. Rake was $0 for that solve. And I'm not aware of online games that allow straddles, so the ranges are meant for live games with an active straddle =)
@@ThePokerBank I'm looking for ranges to use on WPT global straddle games. Thanks anyway :)
@@roccojustice7156 Cheers!
@ThePokerBank - why did you bet only $33 into the $168 pot on the flop with you AcJs hand @10:10? I saw you were betting close to 50% pot most of the time and thought you'd come out with $75-$80 as a value bet. Is it because there was a $40 short stack as well in there or something else?
after 64,000 hands, my TT is losing.
I am going to be content studying and becoming a winning 1 - 2 player . No one at that level thinks this deep.

Hi!

GTO+ has an equity graph also.
You're correct. I updated my GTO+ a day after shooting this video and saw that feature. It's awesome to see it included natively in GTO+ now!
Thank God! At last confirmation that most insane "4d chess range vs villain vs my exact made up ev" are crap calculations people pull out of their ar*e. They gaslight us they have come up with a whole new poker paradigm - more like a new course usually. _I have maths & stats degrees and even I think it's unworkable crap_

I’d love to see you break down a hand (or several) from start to finish using these concepts to help understand how they can be applied practically. Great content as usual! 🤙🏻
Noted, and thanks Josh!
The thing about poker equity is all it really means is how much you are willing to talk yourself into calling when you know you're behind! X)
So you're saying there's a chance?
@@ThePokerBankclassic!
Not exactly. You can use equity inversely to figure out how much to bet to get your opponent(s) to call when you have the nut hand, or the effective nuts.
Also, equity is a realization calculation, not something people should be using to make calls or bets. You should be calculating the percentages of your opponent's ranges that are bluffs, value or nutted hands and make your bets, calls and folds based on that information. It's something a lot of people who play poker have no idea how to do, but it's quite simple. Even easier than calculating equity, IMHO. Because calculating possible combinations is, IMHO, more accurate than calculating equity. I mean, if you have the nut hand you have 100% equity, that's easy. But if, say, you have the second or third nuts, then equity doesn't mean shit. And this is where analyzing action and deciding if your opponent is playing a polarized range or a nutted range is key.
The latest version of GTO+ also has an equity graph. Also has EV and equity heatmaps for ranges.
You are correct. I unfortunately updated my GTO+ the day AFTER recording this video lol.

Some of the best content on the internet is simple well explained and seam to hear your voice giving me good advice when playing ...really appreciate the channel
Cheers, and thank you so much for your kind words =)
One of the worst poker vids i've seen
Why?
The way I see it, if you stop fearing the ace on the flop while you have pocket kings, that is a sign you are properly bankroll to play at the stakes you are playing when it comes to cash games. I tend to strike fear into opponents who could have an ace but aren't willing to call with that Ax against my kings. It boils down to how you play those kings.
I learned to pay attention to bet sizes from others vs what cards the end up showing
Live games around me are much looser than what the solver says or Vegas. The SB may be raising 10-15% but the others are calling with the same ranges (and 3-betting JJ+ AQ+)...many will be flatting JTs, pocket 4's many suited A, etc. If there are just limpers, usually if the Button Straddle then raises, they don't get a lot of respect and squeezes may get it down to HU or 3-way, but it is not uncommon for it still to be 4-5 way action. It also matters what the SB made it....if Straddle was 6 and they just made it 15 that really isn't any bigger than the common open in our 1-3 games. If they made it 26 then it usually will get respect. Also note there is a max 3 raises (over the blinds or straddle) so that does effect the action at times and makes raise sizes more important since someone could "4-Bet" and close the action for the minimum i.e. straddle 6, raise to 15, raise to 35 from Straddle, then someone could cap the action at 55 and you end up with 4 folks in for 55 (220 pot) with a wide range. If you are the Straddle and choose to squeeze/3-Bet it needs to be sizable to prevent this type of cap move for multiway.
I'm constantly getting in good and losing. Am I just going to be a statistic of those who suffer bad variance? Should I quit playing while I'm behind?
Keep improving at all costs Constantly getting in good and losing becomes a contradiction when multiplied by the long term
Play lower stakes until you’re consistently winning, then try to move back up
@@afro.thunder I have been stuck in $1/$2 land for three years because bad players get lucky. I'm so deep in the red, I can't see myself ever getting out.
@@idrisbalavakosI've been in the same spot before and currently for the last 2 months. I've cut down on some of the variance by becoming tighter (TAG). This lets me have a few spots for getting a little bit out of line. Be careful though because if you turn over too many of those hands your image goes down and you'll tend to get more callers when you try to isolate or then out the field with your good hands. Also be mindful of the players you play with. You can make money off of poor play BUT when majority of the table loves to chase it can get blurry. May need to find a new table or game.
@@idrisbalavakos Either the rake and the drop is too much or you are tipping too much or most likely you are just not a winning player. You probably play too many hands too passively. It's difficult to play too tight preflop. Try never limping unless you're on the button and there's already limpers... Fold or raise. If you begin with a stronger range vineyard opponents and you have position and initiative the majority of the time you are bound to win.
